Rives Deaton

Rives Deaton, a native of East Tennessee, draws her artistic inspiration from the majestic mountains that surrounded her upbringing. When she was a child, her home overlooked Holston Mountain in Bristol, Tennessee, where she spent countless hours exploring the woods, tracing the streams in the hollows, and building forts with neighborhood friends. These cherished memories often serve as the foundation for her mountain landscape paintings.

Art became a form of therapy for Rives following the passing of her father, providing solace and a path towards healing. It was through painting that she rediscovered joy and nourished her soul.

Under the guidance of her art instructor, Rives explored various forms of artistic expression, with plein air painting quickly becoming a favorite. This practice not only allowed her to create her art but also fostered connections and friendships within the artist community.

Currently residing in Johnson City, Tennessee, Rives shares her home with her husband, Eric, and their two Boykin Spaniels, Katie and Leo.
