Twigs and Leaves was established in October 1998 by wife and husband Kaaren Stoner and David Erickson. With extensive renovations to the century-old building on Main Street in Historic Downtown Waynesville, North Carolina, they transformed the 6000-square-foot space (and former hardware store) into a uniquely designed art gallery.
On March 19, 2007, Carrie and John Keith purchased the business, revising the name to Twigs and Leaves Gallery. As new owners, they moved to Waynesville from Panhandle Florida immediately establishing ownership and residency. Carrie had previously owned a nature/garden/florist shop in Destin, FL making the attraction to Twigs and Leaves a natural partnership. John brought to the enterprise his 32 years of banking and civic involvement. Carrie took care of the management of the gallery while John was a realtor with Beverly-Hanks & Associates, Realtors.
The Gallery changed hands again in June of 2023 when Carrie and John retired and is currently owned by Peggy and Roger Reid while managed by long-time employee Tiffani Watts. Bringing a wealth of experience owning small businesses, Roger and Peggy came from Atlanta and are thrilled to continue the legacy of representing a diverse group of talented artists, artwork displayed in a tasteful and creative manner, and offering visitors and locals a rich, welcoming experience.
Twigs and Leaves Gallery is active in the community, participating in downtown events, and supporting the Haywood County Arts Council, Haywood Chamber of Commerce, Smokies Life, Blue Ridge Craft Trails, and Haywood Community College Professional Crafts Programs.
