Charlie Patricolo

Charlie Patricolo - Murphy, NC

Charlie Patricolo is an enthusiastic crafts person who feels fortunate to earn a living doing what she loves. Her journey into doll making began in her teen years, when she dabbled with patterns before delving into her own designs after attending a class at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC. Over the years, Charlie has been privileged to teach and collaborate with galleries that showcase her work. In 2002, she was accepted into the Southern Highland Craft Guild, which opened numerous opportunities for her. Additionally, in 2017, Charlie completed the jury process for ODACA (Original Doll Artist Council of America), encouraging her to explore more one-of-a-kind doll creations.

Inspired by various sources such as song lyrics, fabric patterns, and life stages, Charlie finds inspiration in unexpected places. She remains open to possibilities, allowing ideas to percolate in her mind for days, weeks, or even months until they coalesce into a cohesive vision. Teaching is also a significant aspect of Charlie's artistic journey, as she finds fulfillment in guiding students to realize their creative potential.

Recently, Charlie's focus has shifted towards fantasy themes, serving as a form of escapism from the challenges of the real world. Her ultimate goal has always been to bring joy to anyone who encounters her dolls, a mission she continues to pursue with passion and dedication.
