Bill Wanezek

Bill Wanezek hails from southwestern Wisconsin, where he spent most of his life before discovering the allure of Western North Carolina with his wife. His journey into woodworking began in his youth, working alongside his father on household projects and absorbing valuable skills along the way.

Driven by a need for creative expression, Bill found solace and satisfaction in woodworking, particularly wood turning. Starting with bowls, plates, and candlesticks, his passion for the craft grew, leading to an expansion of his repertoire and the eventual participation in art shows.

Upon retiring to Burnsville in 2007, Bill reignited his woodworking endeavors, eager to explore the innate beauty concealed within raw lumber. His process is guided by the revelation of the wood's natural allure, often adapting his initial concepts as the material unfolds its inherent characteristics.

With a collection of around 30 different domestic and exotic hardwoods at his disposal, Bill crafts an array of functional and decorative pieces, including plates, bowls, pen sets, letter openers, clocks, and more. True to his reverence for the wood's natural beauty, Bill employs only clear finishes, allowing the innate colors of the wood to shine through in each piece.
