Joan Doyle

Joan's life began in the countryside of Ireland, and she has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. Given her first watercolor paper in her teens by her sister Trudi, also a watercolorist, she says she had found her first love. Trained in the Graphic Arts she ventured into animation with an American company in Dublin, Don Bluth Studios. There she received her training on the job in Special Effects Animation which, with her adventurous spirit, led her to California and Walt Disney Animation. 

She never forgot her roots in nature and watercolor and had been building her skills over the years. She began to specialize in watercolor house-portraits when animation transitioned from paper to computers. In 2017 she moved to North Carolina for the seasons and the glorious and inspirational landscape. She finds the spontaneous nature of the watercolor medium endlessly fascinating and loves to introduce beginners to it. Living in the mountains she is inspired daily to take up her brush and paint.
