From the Artist:

"This beech tree forest is at Craggy Gardens. At this elevation the

wind and the winters are hard. I first photographed this stand of

beech trees in the spring which I named the Stunted Beech Trees.

The trees are stunted due to the environment. I made this image in the

fall of 2016. Ironically, I tore a muscle when I tripped on a root and

fell down on the trail when I ran back to get a filter that was not in my

bag. Still feeling the repercussions from the fall."
