From the Artist:
"Cherokee Indians referred to the mountains as KA-KOH-NA-GAS, meaning of
course the Blue. Knowing the science behind this natural phenomenon makes the
mountain’s blue appearance more wondrous even to scientists. Isoprene, which the
trees emit, protects themselves from excess heat on summer days. After isoprene
is released into the air it interacts with other molecules creating the distinctive
haze."
