When Helen was a little girl, her grand-mother grew amazing flower gardens filled with colorful zinnias, phlox, marigolds, peonies, iris and more. Helen spent summers helping her tend her gardens.  There began her love of flowers that now extends to her love of floral watercolor painting.

Helen grew up in Marion, AL, and at an early age her Mama enrolled her in oil painting classes one day a week.  It would be many years before Helen would once again pick up a paint brush.

Moving to NC in 2005, she realized she finally had time to pursue painting again.  Learning to paint in watercolor was tops on her list.  Helen took classes at John C. Campbell, followed by classes with several area artists.

Over the years Helen has enjoyed painting mostly flowers with a few house portraits and landscapes now and then.

Helen is a member of Mountain Arts Association and the NC Watercolor Society.
