Having grown up in East Tennessee, I was always inspired by the majesty of the mountains. My home, as a child, was on a wooded knob overlooking Holston Mountain in Bristol, Tennessee. I loved wandering in the woods, following the little streams in the hollows of the knob and building forts with all the neighborhood kids. These rich memories are often pulled upon when I paint mountain landscapes.
In the beginning, creating art came to me as a means of therapy after my father passed away. It was through painting that my soul began to heal and find joy again.
Through my art instructor, I was encouraged to try many means of expression through my art. Painting plein air became a favorite means of creating my works and cultivating newfound friendships with other artists.
Currently, I am living in Johnson City, Tennessee with my husband, Eric and my two Boykin Spaniels, Katie, and Leo.
