Robin Kirby is a full time mother of two, budding artist and part-time potter, creating beautiful functional stoneware for the home. Her current work is a reflection of her time away from the studio while the children were young and in the classroom, where she has been teaching adult students for the past 5 years. She has scaled back her production to smaller batches that are fired in an electric kiln. This allows her the time to explore surface design, incorporating carved elements with textured additions and accented glazed motifs. Special attention has been paid to the details of function including comfortable handles and spouts that pour nicely. All of her work is best appreciated when it is used regularly. It is safe for the microwave, dishwasher and oven (bakeware should be placed in a cold oven to prevent thermal shock).
Robin is a 2005 graduate of the Haywood Community College Professional Crafts Program and currently lives and works in Saluda, NC.
