Western North Carolina has been my home for the past eleven years. The mountains surrounding the Asheville area are a constant source of inspiration for me, and they also harbor much of the subject matter for my work. I’ve been a nature lover for all of my life, and art has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Using a camera to capture the essence of the beauty around me has been, and continues to be, a never ending joy and challenge.
My photographs and image transfers have evolved from a lifelong fascination with nature. The mystery and beauty of nature continues to intrigue and inspire me, and I seek to reveal and express those qualities in my images. Semiabstract in style, I look for everyday, natural elements of design, form, and lighting. My works are an attempt to expose the hidden simplicity in everyday things, like the pattern of a spider web or a row of sunflowers in the morning light.
My photographs are taken with a Canon Digital Rebel XT. All photographs are printed on archival quality fine art papers and the image transfers are printed on Epson watercolor paper. All prints are made with an Epson Stylus Pro 4000 using archival quality, pigment-based ink. The prints are available in numbered, limited editions of 250.
